OUR PROGRAMME
Winter 2009/10 programme
All meetings of the group are held at the Village Hall, Toot Hill. Meetings will commence at 8.00pm. Entry for members is £1.  New members and visitors are welcome; entry is £2.  Coffee and biscuits are available.
Thursday 22 October 2009.  'Keepers, Cockneys and Kitchen Maids', given by Georgina Green.  The talk collects memories of Epping Forest. These memories illuminate life before, during and after the Great War in relation to the Forest and the grand houses around it. These recollections were gathered through an oral history project. A book resulted from the project.
Thursday 26 November 2009. 'North Weald Airfield and Its Community, 1916 - 1964', to be given by Arthur Moreton. A resident of North Weald, Arthur Moreton has been closely connected with the development of the museum at North Weald as well as the staging  of flying events at the airfield.  The talk covers the history of the active airfield. 
Thursday 25 February 2010. 'The Agricultural Depression in Essex, 1875 - 1901' by Neil Wiffen.  The talk is based on research for a dissertation submitted to Essex University for a master's degree. The talk has been given at the Essex Record Office.
Thursday 25 March 2010. Annual General Meeting and Members' Evening. Three members give three 20 minute talks on three topics: 'Administering Greensted' by Robert Brooks; 'The Life and Death of a Parish Church (Berners Roding)' by Martyn Lockwood; and, '1911 and All That' by Andrew Smith.
Thursday 22 April 2010.  'The History of Lodge Coaches - 90 Years On' by Robert Lodge.
